80th Birthday Celebration on the Rogue River

Adrienne DeLaurell and her family from California, her brother and his family from Colorado, and her step-brother and sister-in-law from CA joined Adrienne's mom, who will be celebrating her 80th birthday on September 11, for our afternoon Rogue River trip. The birthday girl, who is sitting right in front of Pupeye, our dog, lives in Grants Pass.
Last year the crew joined Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips, and had so much fun that they returned again this year.
A good time was had by all and their festivities continued throughout the week end.

Erika and her partner, Danielle, joined Sue for a
full day Rogue River raft trip over the week end.
It was a great day for floating and some paddling
in the kayak for Erika who even tried her hands
and arms at the oars.
Danielle enjoyed the relaxation of the oar raft and
we all enjoyed some of the Rogue River wildlife:
otters, osprey diving for fish, blue herons, king-
fishers, and a deer and two of her fawn standing by the river's edge in the shade of the willows.

Rogue River raft rentals

Depending upon the day our stack of Rogue River rental boats can look totally alike or show a lot of variety. On this particular day a trailer full of boats was loaded for a Hog Creek Boat Landing put-in. On the bottom is an 8 person paddle boat. Above that is a 14 foot self bailing oar boat, above that are two twelve foot paddle rafts topped by a single tomkat. We're happy to accommodate your rental needs. We'll put you in and take you out anywhere in the Hog Creek to Grave Creek stretch of the Rogue River.

Kayaking on the Rogue River

On July 13 the Bieber siblings, Cade in the foreground and Addi in the background, joined Sue and Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips for a half day trip from Hog Creek to Galice. We had the river practically to ourselves and the wildlife, once again, was wonderful. An otter swam in front of us and many osprey and blue heron flew overhead. As we paddled through Taylor Creek Canyon above Morrison's Lodge, Sue commented that we might see a bald eagle. No sooner said then Cade yelled and pointed, "There it is!" and a bald eagle landed on a tree branch. We had time for swimming, fishing and snacking. The cool upstream breeze gave us all a little chill with temperatures hovering at 90 degrees on this summer day of mostly solitude, except for the
wildlife and an occasional raft.

Hot Rogue River sunsets

Summer is here and the temperatures have climbed to the high 90's and occasional low 100's for the past five days. When there is a little cloud cover, we sees beautiful sunsets from Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips. After a wonderful day of scenery rafting on the Rogue River, we get to enjoy this beautiful scenery at night.

Breezy Rogue River Day

Yesterday Breeze and James Dunn joined Sue for a half day river trip. Breeze brought along her binoculars and as we drifted along she was able to spot many cliff swallows, Bullock's orioles, blue herons and osprey to name a few. Breeze without binoculars also spotted a little baby otter! James was adjusting to his new glasses and confirmed all sightings. As we approached Galice, the end of our morning half day Rogue River trip, the breezes picked up. It was a good time to take out. "I needed this day for my soul," said Breeze.

The coolest Rogue River day yet this season

Repeat customer, Jim Beggs, and his sons, on the right, joined us with Jim's friends, Ben and Michele Middleton and their daughter, on our June 16 day trip. It was probably the coolest day day of our Rogue River rafting season and everyone was a good sport and had a good time. Pupeye, our Rogue River rafting dog, provided entertainment for all and chased everything from rainbow, to butterfly to deer. Jim, Michele and Ben are educators in Modesto, CA. It was obvious that Ben Middleton is an English teacher as he described Pupeye and his primordal, spriteful behavior. They all began their summer vacations in southern Oregon attending a few plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and rafting the Rogue River with Ferron's Fun Trips.

Rogue River Fun on a cool June day!

Abby and Jacob Maples, on the left, newlyweds from Cedar Rapids, Iowa rafted with Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips on our full day trip. "This was a lovely start to our honeymoon," they said. In the afternoon a crew from Cupertino, CA, staying at Out 'N About Treehouses www.treehouses.com joined the Maples. In the right photo Maurie and Andrew Feskanich successfully navigate Argo Rapids behind Ferron.
Everyone learned something on this Rogue River rafting trip. Near the end of the day Pupeye, our rafting guide dog, exuberantly jumped off the raft to say hello to a gaggle of geese, many very young. Needless to say, the the baby goslings were scared and submerged themselves until Pupeye went away. Even Ferron was not aware that goslings could go under water!
Despite the unseasonably cool temperatures everyone had a great day on the Rogue River.

Is it summer yet?

The Moses Family from Southlake, Texas joined Ferron and Pupeye today on a cool and windy day trip. This was a departure from the family's traditional island vacation. They have travelled to the Turks and Caicos, the Dominican Republican, and Kauai.
This vacation they ventured to Out 'n About Treehouses www.treehouses.com and spent a day with Ferron's Fun Trips on the Rogue River.
The water was high, the temperatures cool, the wind was blowing, and they were great sports. They had a good close up view of a bald eagle and beautiful Rogue River scenery with cloudy skies and intermittent sunshine.

Bald Eagle on the Rogue River

Krista and Mike joined Pupeye and Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips for half day trip this May. They were staying at Out 'N About Treesort www.treehouses.com and contacted us. Krista grew up in Portland, traveled around and settled back in Portland but decided to take some vacation time in southern Oregon. While rafting, a bald eagle was spotted above them. Perhaps the springtime will bring more eaglets. Stay tuned.

The Rogue River in the fall

Last fall our long time friend and photographer, Charlie Lipson, visited us with his wife Bobbi Bulriss. In the 1980's Charlie rafted on a commercial Rogue River Wild and Scenic trip with us.

Last October Bobbi and Charlie spent an afternoon fishing on the river with Ferron. There are more spectacular scenery pictures that we will share in future blogs but this picture prompted us to ask, "Who has the bigger nose? Pupeye or Ferron?"
Until you see more of Charlie's beautiful photography on our blog, visit his website at
http://charlip218.zenfolio.com/

Stay tuned for more beautiful Rogue River fall foliage and hopefully soon we will have beautiful spring flora pictures for you.

A rafting customer took this picture during her raft trip last July. It was a sunny glorious day and the sky was blue. You'll go under this bridge during the first two miles of your trip after Dunn Riffle which you can see from the road. The road switches from river right to river left at this point.
We needed to be reminded of these blue skies as the weather persists here with clouds and mid fifties for highs. Spring is on the way and then RIVER SEASON!!!

Have new Ford van will travel!

Check out the latest motorized vehicle to our fleet. This will be one of the new air conditioned vans that will take you from Foster Bar or Grave Creek back to your vehicle. We're hoping these investments will make your Rogue River experience with us more pleasurable.

The Rogue River is high

Posted by Picasa May the rains continue and clean the Rogue River. May the river flow be plentiful and the water level sufficient throughout the 2010 river season.

Hog Creek on the Rogue River Jan 1, 2010

The last day and night of 2009 brought rain and more rain. New Year's Day we hiked down to Hog Creek on the Rogue River. The water is high and muddy. There will certainly be more debris to clean and salvage on our first spring Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips.Posted by Picasa
