When it rains, the Rogue River rises

We've had badly need rain the past week and more to come this week. This is the view above Hog Creek Boat Landing on the Rogue River on Saturday, January 21. The river is mighty, high and muddy and with more rains predicted we expect it will continue to rise. Hopefully there will be snow pack in the mountains and a good water flow for the 2012 season.

On the road above the Rogue River

Here we are on the road overlooking Hellgate Canyon on the Rogue River. We walked from our house. Hoping the rains will come soon and rafters will be able to float with few obstacles come the spring and summer season.

Sun but no fish on the Rogue River

Sunny day and Ferron, buddy, Geoff, Pupeye and Curry put the driftboat in at Ennis and fished upstream and down to Galice. Alas, no fish. The last time Curry was in a driftboat, he tried to jump out and Sue grabbed him by the tail. While we laughed, doggie paddle took on another meaning. Obviously he was not traumatized. On this mid January day we are becoming ever more aware of the need for rain in our region.

New crew member for Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips

Meet Curry, the newest doggie crew member for Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips. We all met each other at the Curry County Animal Shelter during our annual post river season trip to Gold Beach. We put Junior to sleep this summer and with the post season coming on we decided it would be timely to fill our doggie void. Curry was six weeks and had brindle color. Mom is a lab and what's your guess about dad? Sue insisted that she didn't want a dog as big as Pupeye. Time will tell and Curry will be ready for our 2012 Rogue River season.
