Blue skies while rafting the Rogue River

As you look at these pictures of the Rogue River above Hellgate Canyon you notice blue sky and a bank of smoke from the Big Windy fire. This Wisconsin family enjoyed a morning of rafting the Rogue with blue, clear skies. Wayd said, "This is what summer is supposed to be like. I forgot."

A day of weather while rafting the Rogue River

Yesterday's Rogue River rafting trip with this San Diego family was wild and crazy.  There was lightning, thunder, a downpour, smoke and finally sunshine.  The group was very optimistic and adventurous.  With rain gear on and extra layers they smiled while paddling their inflatable kayaks on the Rogue River.

Family Rogue River rafting trip

Yesterday was one of the clearest least smoky days yet, though the fires continue to burn. After driving up to Grants Pass in a Prius for 18 hours, this family joined us for our afternoon half day Rogue River raft trip. They still seemed to be having fun with one another, too!

Rogue River rafting on a Thursday afternoon

This family of five joined us for a half day afternoon trip.  We brought along one double and two single inflatable tomkats.  Everyone took a turn in both trading in and out.  We hear the 11 year old was very adept.  There was lots of screaming and a good time was had by all!

A local Grants Pass family with their exchange student from France joined Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips for the morning half day trip. They were almost by themselves on the river except for the helicopters that were filling up near Carpenter's Island. The French exchange student shared that he wanted to tackle a Class V rapid some day.

Come rafting on the Rogue River

This couple from CA joined Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips for a full day of rafting yesterday.  It was the bluest sky and the least amount of smoke we've seen in over two weeks.  A bald eagle was spotted, too.  We had the river nearly to ourselves and hope there will be more traffic on the river if the winds and weather cooperate.

Rogue River rafting on August 9

Five siblings, mom, and grandmom joined Ferron for the morning half day Rogue River rafting trip.  The family hails from the northern part of the state and were staying in Ashland where they were seeing a half dozen or more Oregon Shakespeare festival plays.  All the siblings traded off in the single and double kayak and the youngest finally got in one herself.  During the morning the smoky skies dissipated a bit.
