June 28 Rogue River Raft trip from Hog Creek to Galice through Hellgate Canyon

This Seattle couple rafted the Rogue River last year in a paddleboat.  This year they decided to try their hands and skills at kayaking.  We decided they can rent kayaks from us next year.  They are ready to venture off on their own.

A cool day on the Rogue River

Repeat customers from Washington decided to brave the cool dampness yesterday to be on the Rogue River with Ferron and the pups.  The family arrived in so Oregon at 4 AM for their trip.  They stayed at the Treesort in Takilma last year and are going to zip line there today.  Weather predicted to warm up into the 90's tomorrow.

June 21, the longest day of the year, and a great day for a Ferron's Rogue River Raft trip

This family of four joined Ferron yesterday for a full day trip. The dad had worked on the Pacific Crest Trail in years past. Mom and Dad were avid birders, and more so before two kids came along. The group actually saw a water ouzel nest in the same area where there are cliff swallow mud nests.

June 18 full day Rogue River raft trip. This was the sunniest part of the day. Photo taken at Hog Creek on the Rogue River

This family repeated the trip they took with us last year; it was just about the same time. While the sun was shining in the early portion of the day, blustery weather and winds blew in. The boys remembered Pupeye and Curry. Dad kayaked from Hog Creek to Galice on the Rogue River but chose to stay warm in the afternoon. The 13 year old, however, stayed in the kayak the whole trip. One of the guests on the morning trip saw a bald eagle for the first time.

Rogue River rafting with four families on June 17 Galice to Grave Creek

Ferron and Sue had the pleasure of taking four families from the Bay area on the Rogue River today. The group had stayed at Crater Lake Lodge the past two days and were headed to Out 'n About Treehouses this evening and tomorrow evening. While there were some thrills and spills, it was a wonderful group of very compatable folks. Ferron and Sue enjoyed themselves as much as their guests!  And we had the entertainment of three merganzer moms and their ducklings, too!

June 13 Rogue River raft trip from Galice to Grave Creek

These two moms and their daughters came from the Lily Pad in Takilma to raft with Ferron's Rogue River Fun Trips. The girls sang show tunes down the river and Ferron suspected they might be on their way to see My Fair Lady in Ashland. He learned that one of the women had attended a Spanish language immersion program in the same Guatemalan city where Sue studied.

June 11 half day Rogue River rafting trip from Galice to Grave Creek

Yesterday this group of girlfriends from Washington, Arizona, and California joined Ferron on the afternoon half day Rogue River raft trip from Galice to Grave Creek. The women are staying at the Lily Pad Treehouse in Takilma. One of Ferron's favorite comments on the river was by one of the women who said, "I have a dog so I don't have to go to a therapist."

June 5 Rogue River rafting from Hog Creek to Galice

Today Sue rowed her friend, Ellie, and Ellie's Rotary international student from Ecuador on the Rogue River.  It was perfect weather for Rogue River rafting as temperatures rose into the high 80's.  It was also great because Sue first met this young woman in the late fall and promised to go rafting with her.  She will be leaving in two weeks and the raft trip finally happened.
